When Cristiano Ronaldo was missing, Anthony Elanga got the chance from the start before stars like Jadon Sancho and Jesse Lingard when Manchester United met Aston Villa in the Premier League.

It was the 19-year-old Swede's first Premier League start of the season.

Elanga signed a new contract with the English big club a few weeks ago, which extends over 2026.

In an interview with Manchester United's website, Victor Lindelöf pays tribute to his Swedish teammate.

- Of course I talk to him a lot.

He is a great talent who comes here every day and really wants to get better.

He works very, very hard and I am happy for his sake, says Lindelöf.

The match against Aston Villa was Elanga's fourth appearance in the Premier League this season and the 19-year-old gets more and more chances in the big club.

- If he continues as he does now, I think he has a great future ahead of him.

It is about being humble and continuing to work hard, says Lindelöf.

In March, Sweden will play the playoffs for the World Cup in Qatar in December.

More and more people are starting to think that Elanga deserves a place in Sweden.

Lindelöf is team captain in the Swedish national team and believes Elanga has a chance to join in the future.

- If you play in United and are a young Swede, it is obviously a lot of talk.

He is a great talent.

If he continues to do what he is doing right now, he has a very bright future.

It is good to have him in the club and I try to help him as much as I can, says Lindelöf.
