The initial idea from the government when new restrictions were trumpeted two weeks ago was to lower the audience ceiling to 500 spectators for matches and sporting events indoors.

The provision, which enters into force on 19 January, has now been modified.

The government has decided that it will allow 500 people per section.

- Sports federations and associations have already developed working methods from earlier during the pandemic to be able to carry out infection-proof events with distant audiences, which we also clearly stated in our dialogues with the government and the Public Health Agency.

That sport is now given the confidence to take in 500 spectators per section is very positive, says Björn Eriksson, chairman of the Swedish Sports Confederation (RF).
