Ancelotti proud after his fifth title with Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the wonderful work his team did after their 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia on Sunday to win the 21st title in his coaching career and the fifth with the Spanish giants.

This is Ancelotti's first title since winning the German Super Cup 2-17 with Bayern Munich, four and a half years ago.

"Yes, I won many titles, but it's been a long time since the last time," Ancelotti told a news conference in Riyadh.

"Winning is the end of your work. In the eyes of the fans, it means that you did a good job but that's not always the truth. I think I did well at Everton and Napoli but I didn't win trophies there."

The 62-year-old Italian coach was leading Real Madrid when they won their 10th Champions League title in 2014.

With Real Madrid, he won the King's Cup, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup in his first spell with the team, which ended in 2015.

He just needs to win the Spanish League to become the first coach in the club's history to win all six major titles available.

Real Madrid is currently leading the league standings.

"I feel lucky and proud to have had the opportunity to coach this team," Ancelotti said. "You can never tire of winning. Watching players happy and celebrating is beautiful and something you enjoy a lot."

In addition to his five titles with Real Madrid, Ancelotti won three titles with Bayern, one with Paris Saint-Germain, three with Chelsea, eight with Milan and one with Juventus.

Real Madrid leads the Spanish League with 49 points from 21 games, five points ahead of second-placed Seville.

Real Madrid is still in competition in the Champions League, where it faces Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16, and also in the King's Cup, where it faces Elche next Thursday in the round of 16 as well.

"We won't have time to celebrate, there is another match in another tournament in a few days," Ancelotti said.
