Wiesbaden native Kim Kalicki won the European title in two-man bobsleigh.

At the World Cup final in St. Moritz on Sunday, Kalicki and Olympic brakewoman Lisa Buckwitz set the best time of the season with 1:07.40 minutes and 0.04 seconds ahead of Mariama Jamanka from BRC Thüringen.

The two-man Olympic champion, who won the European title in monobob the day before, rode with Kira Lipperheide.

Laura Nolte from Winterberg and Deborah Levi came third in the World Cup, which was held at the same time.

It wasn't quite enough for Nolte to win the overall World Cup, as she also skipped the World Cup in Sigulda with a view to the Olympics like Kalicki and Jamanka.

Nevertheless, Nolte finished second, 19 points behind US pilot Elana Meyers Taylor.

Kalicki ended up third.

"The overall World Cup victory would have been nice, but it's not the priority this season," said Nolte, who had slight problems with her calf and now wants to focus on Beijing.

The only natural ice rink in the world is rebuilt every year at the end of November by a team of specialists from 10,000 cubic meters of snow and 5000 cubic meters of water over a length of 1722 meters in just three weeks.

Therefore, there are no track records, only best times of the season.
