Evert dominated tennis in the 70's and won a total of 157 titles on the women's tour, including in the form of 18 grand slam victories, of which on seven occasions the French championships in Paris.

Her main competitor was Martina Navratilova and they both had a number of classic meetings during the period 1973–1988.

After his career, Evert has worked as an expert commentator on television and the intention is to comment on the Australian Open from home when the competition in Melbourne begins next week.
