Jimmy Carragher, the former captain of Liverpool, urged the club's management to meet the conditions of Mohamed Salah and extend his contract at Anfield, noting that the fans would not forgive the club's owners if the Egyptian star left.

The "Egyptian King" entered the last 18 months of his contract, in which he receives more than 200,000 pounds (about 239,000 euros) per week, but there are no indications at the present time that he has agreed to new terms.

And the British newspaper, The Telegraph, went that the Liverpool administration refuses to meet Salah’s financial requests (half a million euros per week) to renew his contract, and one of the reasons for the refusal is the approach of the Egyptian star to the age of 30 years.

And it was confirmed - with conclusive evidence - yesterday, Thursday, that Salah's absence is very influential;

Liverpool struggled to score against Arsenal, who played with 10 players, in the FA Cup semi-final first leg, which ended in a goalless draw at Anfield.

And Carragher - the current "Sky Sports" analyst - believes that Liverpool should reach an agreement with the Egyptian striker "sooner than later", revealing that the talks between the two parties "are not going as required."

And Carragher said, "The talk about renewing Salah's contract is likely to increase in frequency because his absence from the team is very influential."

"As a Liverpool fan, it should be warned that this effect will continue; there are other great players in Liverpool who have signed contracts in the past few months; think of goalkeeper (Alison Becker), Trent (Alexander Arnold), and Virgil van Dijk, all of these are great players and Salah is one of them." He is entitled to a salary as one of the best players in the Premier League and the world, so why not get that?"

The former defender added, "Liverpool fans will not quickly forgive the owners of the club if they fail to extend Salah's contract, and this means his departure from Anfield within a year and a half. For me, I would like that (renew his contract) to be done as quickly as possible. It does not mean to give him What he wants, but the team, its owners and its fans will lose a lot at all levels if Salah leaves the club in the summer or within 18 months.”

He concluded, "He is a legend in Liverpool, and one of the greatest players the club has ever known, and he should be treated this way sooner rather than later."

Salah's future has been the subject of discussion since the beginning of the season, and it has gained more importance and more momentum because of the outstanding level that Salah offers this season, as he is the Premier League's top scorer and best goal maker in it.

The British press expects that the offers for Salah, 29, will fall if the negotiations between him and the “Liver” reach a dead end and he leaves in the summer of 2023 for free.

Salah will have the right to negotiate with clubs wishing to include him throughout Europe 12 months from now.

Although Salah stressed his unwillingness to leave, he made it clear - in a press interview this week - that the next step is entirely up to Liverpool officials and club management.

"I want to stay but it's not up to me, it's in their hands... They know what I want, I don't ask for crazy things. It's when you ask for something and it shows you they can give you that thing because they appreciate what you did for the club. I'm here in my fifth year, and I know the club." Well, I love the fans and the fans love me, but now it's up to the management, I've been told what I want and the decision is theirs."
