We have decided to carry out PR activities using SNS etc. with the athletes.
This was decided at the first online meeting of the JOC and practitioners of each domestic competition organization on the night of the 13th.
This meeting was held by the JOC, saying that discussions on the significance of holding the Games regarding the 2030 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, which Sapporo City is promoting, have not spread.
At the meeting, based on the experience of last year's Tokyo Games, it is necessary for the invitation activities to have the general public think about the significance of the Games, the impact after the Games and the legacy that will be brought to the local community. So, as an opportunity, JOC requested the Japanese national team players who will participate in the Beijing tournament to be held next month through each competition group to cooperate in PR activities.
Specifically, we would like to ask the players to express their gratitude for their support during the Beijing tournament and their expectations for the event in Sapporo on SNS, etc., and to use the key visuals created for the invitation activities. It means that we are considering using it to convey the ideas of the players.
While the person in charge of the competition group offered to cooperate, there were also negative opinions about the event, so we will make efforts to get a better understanding of the significance of the event so that the athletes who cooperated will not be criticized. There was also an opinion that it should be done.
In the future, the JOC will support the bid activities of Sapporo City while carrying out such efforts in collaboration with competition groups.
