Nicklas Lidström spent his entire 20-year, successful NHL career in the Detroit Red Wings.

It is now clear that the former full-back, who ended his playing career almost ten years ago, will get a new job within the Detroit organization.

Won four Stanley Cups

The 51-year-old was today presented under the title "Vice President of hockey operations" by the club's general manager Steve Yzerman.

The job means, according to Detroit's website, that Lidström will be involved in "all aspects of ice hockey-related issues" at the club.

After his playing career, which included four Stanley Cup titles and seven nominations for the NHL's best fullback, Lidström has worked as a scout for Detroit and an advisor to Tre Kronor.
