In 2019, Pawel Cibicki, who then played in Elfsborg, received a yellow card in an Allsvenskan match.

That card led him to later be suspected of match-fixing-related crimes.

He was acquitted in the district court, but was sentenced last month by the Court of Appeal, which found him guilty of both cheating and taking a bribe - and therefore sentenced him to a suspended sentence.

In September, he was also sentenced by the Swedish Football Association's disciplinary committee to a four-year suspension from all sports in Sweden, for violating the sport's anti-match fixing regulations.

"What we expect"

And that suspension has now also been taken up by the International Football Association (Fifa).

The Swedish Football Association asked Fifa to suspend Cibicki internationally already in connection with the fact that they reported Cibicki to the disciplinary committee last year, which Fifa accepted.

After that, the shutdown has rolled on until the final message has now arrived.

- It is positive, but it is also what we expect in this type of case.

Otherwise, it is so easy in the global world as football is, that you just go to another country to play, and thus escape your punishment, says the Swedish Football Association's federal lawyer Christine Stridsberg to SVT Sport.

Futsal player suspended for six years

The two other players convicted in the Cibicki case, one of whom was a national team player in futsal at the time, are also suspended from playing worldwide.

He will be suspended for a full six years.

The two players who were judged in the Kvarnby case, which concerned matches in Kvarnby IK's matches in division 3 2019, are suspended from games all over the world.

The team's then goalkeeper, who was convicted of accepting bribes for the team to lose, is suspended for five years.

The judges have appealed

A person who played football at a lower level, who was convicted of involvement in both the current cases, is suspended from gambling for seven years.

The referees have been appealed to the National Sports Board, and Fifa has decided that their suspensions will be changed if the National Sports Board makes other decisions than what the Football Association's disciplinary committee did.

All the convicts deny the crime.
