New record on PGA tour: "It was an unreal round"

With a record result on the PGA tour, professional golfer Cameron Smith won the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

The 28-year-old Australian remained 34 strokes below the course standard in his victory on Sunday.

Smith needed the fewest strokes in a competition on the PGA Tour.

At the end he played a round of 65 and needed a total of 258 strokes less than the world number one Jon Rahm from Spain.

Third was the Australian Matt Jones with a total of 260 strokes.

The record was previously held by the South African Ernie Els, who in 2003 also remained 31 strokes below the course standard in Hawaii.

The last player to hit par 30 under par was American Dustin Johnson at the 2020 tournament in New Jersey.

"It was intense," said Smith after the exciting three-way battle on the final round of the par-73 course.
