From Melbourne, Novak Djokovic will only have seen the airport this year.

Australia on Thursday canceled the visa of Serbian world number 1, who arrived without the necessary documents to enter the country, Australian customs said.

The co-record holder for the number of Grand Slam titles, whose vaccination status is unknown, had obtained a waiver to be able to go to Melbourne to defend his title there and, why not, to win a 10th Australian Open .

“Foreign nationals who do not have a valid visa or whose visa has been canceled will be detained and deported from Australia,” Customs said.
