Liverpool asks to postpone its next match against Arsenal: “There are no players”

Liverpool has submitted an official request to the English Professional League to postpone its expected match against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final, due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.

And the Liverpool club published a statement on its website, confirming that they had submitted an official request to postpone its match scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, in the “Carabao Cup” competition, due to the increasing number of cases of Corona virus among players and employees, in addition to the lack of a sufficient number of players to play the match.

Liverpool confirmed that it is wise and reasonable to postpone the match, due to the conditions experienced by the team due to absences, whether due to the players’ associations with the African Nations Cup, muscle injuries, or injuries to the Corona virus.

The club indicated that preparations at the AXA training center have been suspended, which means that the first team training session has been cancelled.

And the British newspaper, “The Athletic”, confirmed, yesterday, that a new case of Corona virus was discovered in the ranks of the “Reds”, so it was decided to cancel today’s training in preparation for the Arsenal match, while the club’s training center continues to be opened.

And the Liverpool club announced that German coach Jurgen Klopp, the Cameroonian players, Joel Matip, the Brazilian goalkeeper Alison Becker and striker Roberto Firmino, had contracted the Corona virus, in addition to muscle injuries to some players such as Belgian Divock Origi, Spaniard Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliot, and the departure of the Egyptian trio. Mohamed Salah, Senegalese Sadio Mane and Guinean Naby Keita, to compete in the African Cup of Nations.
