The NHL has already stopped its players from participating in the Winter Olympics.

Roger Rönnberg, coach of Frölunda, has said that he "will do everything in my power not to let players go to an Olympics when the NHL does not".

The position is now seen hard by SVT Sports expert Nils Ekman.

- Who is Roger Rönnberg to decide what someone else's dream is.

I think Roger should apologize to his players for that statement.

I think it is deplorable, says Ekman.

"It's completely wrong"

He continues:

- I can understand if an individual's dreams go against what the association stands for, but that is not the case here.

I think that's completely wrong.

The players should be allowed to go and you should support the players who have big dreams and want to play the Olympics, says Ekman.

Olympics start February 4th

Roger Rönnberg has previously said that his ambition with the position is to protect his team and his players.

- I am the coach for my players.

The most important thing I do as a coach is to protect my team and my players.

The last thing I want, and the last thing I think the SHL wants, is that infected players from the Olympics come home at a decisive stage of the season, Roger Rönnberg said in SVT's Hockey Night last Thursday.

The Beijing Olympics will be inaugurated on February 4 - and Tre Kronor will announce its final squad there on January 21.
