The coach of the Egyptian national team refuses to reveal the reasons for excluding Qafsha and Tariq Hamed

The Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz, described the competition in the African Nations Cup, which begins next week in Cameroon, as being difficult due to the presence of many distinguished elements in the teams.

Queiroz added, "The competition in the African Nations will be difficult because many of the participating teams are competing in the race with a list of 24 players who play in Europe and have high technical capabilities that can control the fate of the matches."

Today, Sunday, the Egyptian national team’s preparations will start through a closed training camp, before the tournament, which will be held between January 9 and February 6.

Queiroz refused to provide explanations about the reasons for excluding some players in the current Pharaohs camp.

The list of the Egyptian team participating in the African Cup was devoid of many Egyptian league stars, led by Al-Ahly player Mohamed Magdy Qafsha and Zamalek player Tariq Hamed.

Queiroz told reporters today, Sunday, "I have been working for 40 years in the field of coaching... I am not talking about the reasons for excluding a player or including another, the main goal for me is to choose an entire team without looking at the names."

And he added, "I followed all the league matches, and I am keen to follow all the players, and I analyze the players and teams, and we study all the information and all the details about the performance of everyone in the league and the professionals in order to choose the best for the Egyptian team."

Egypt will travel to Garoua in Cameroon next Friday to play its matches against Nigeria and Guinea Bissau on January 11-15 in Group D, and then head to Yaounde, where it will play its last match in the first round against Sudan on January 19.
