"National Youth League Rejects Tattoo Players" Has A Weathervane Significance

Zhang Xiliu

Recently, the General Administration of Sports of the People’s Republic of China made it clear in its reply to the "Proposal for the Revitalization of Chinese Football without Delay" that in the specific requirements for athletes of national teams at all levels, the national team and U23 national team athletes are strictly forbidden to have new tattoos, and those with tattoos are admonished. They remove tattoos on their own. If there are special circumstances, they must be covered during training and competition after the team agrees. The U20 national team and the national teams below are strictly prohibited from recruiting athletes with tattoos.

In recent years, the popularity of tattoo society has increased, and the phenomenon of younger age has appeared.

The influence and acceptance of tattoos among minors in my country has a clear upward trend.

The superposition of pattern impact, novel behavior, and idol influence has attracted the attention of many minors to follow suit.

Based on this, the State Sports General Administration issued new regulations: National team and U23 national team athletes are strictly prohibited from having new tattoos; U20 national team and national teams at all levels below are prohibited from recruiting tattooed athletes.

Considering the health of minors, the essence of modern tattoos is to pierce the ink needles into the skin with high-frequency needles through machines, leaving patterns and colors.

The skin is the human body's natural barrier, which will reject dyes and foreign bodies and cause allergic reactions.

Poor disinfection can cause bacterial and fungal infections of skin wounds.

Some professional tattooists, without special medical training, operate irregularly, and the risk of skin infection is higher.

The immune system of minors is not yet mature, and they are more vulnerable.

What's more noteworthy is that tattoos require high sanitary conditions.

Tattoo needles act on the skin and may become a medium for spreading AIDS, hepatitis and other diseases.

An analysis of the growth and progress of minors shows that minor tattoos will have an adverse effect on their future participation in the military and application for civil servants with special requirements for their physical conditions.

According to the "Standards for Physical Examination of Applicant Citizens," tattoos on the face and neck, tattoos with a length of more than 3 cm in the exposed parts of the military-standard physical training suit, and tattoos with a length of more than 10 cm in other parts are deemed to be unqualified.

For some civil servant positions that have special requirements for physical conditions, such as the people’s police recruitment medical examination, if they have a tattoo, they are also deemed to be unqualified in the medical examination.

It can be seen that tattooing minors has become an act that harms physical and mental health.

Although minor tattoos are extremely harmful, my country has not yet made prohibitive regulations on minor tattoos.

Based on this, some legal persons suggested that tattooing, like smoking and drinking, should be included in the prohibited behaviors of minors to regulate.

At present, Shaoxing, Zhejiang and other places have issued relevant regulations, for example, it is clear that tattoo sites must post risk warning sheets; identity verification is required; the consent of the guardian of minors must be obtained before tattoos.

This time the State Sports General Administration has issued new regulations. The national football team is strictly prohibited from adding new tattoos.

National Youth League’s refusal to accept tattooed players is in line with the thinking of protecting minors, and it also has the meaning of a weather vane.

In fact, the "Code of Conduct for National Team Players" issued in 2019 stipulates that athletes cannot have tattoos. The Chinese Football Association stipulates that if players have tattoos, they must be covered by something before they can represent the Chinese team in the game, otherwise it is prohibited The Chinese Super League debut.

An important part of the development of the national football is athlete management. Young athletes are in the early stages of development. They should restrain their physical and mental health and help them to concentrate on training and present a good appearance on the field.

In the next step, legislation banning minor tattoos should be enacted at the national level.

Consider promulgating legal norms or judicial interpretations on tattoos for minors, clearly restricting the age of tattoos, and prohibiting tattoo institutions from performing tattoos for minors.

At the same time, efforts should be made to regulate the tattoo industry and introduce relevant industry standards as soon as possible.

For example, the qualifications of practitioners, the source of tattoo needles, and the processing mechanism should be clearly regulated and restricted.

In particular, families and schools should start with education and provide minors with timely psychological counseling and education guidance, so that minors understand the nature of tattoo culture and possible adverse effects, and allow minors to consciously resist tattoos.
