The match between Memphis and the LA Lakers developed into a real star duel between Ja Morant, named Rookie of the Year in the NBA 2020, and the basketball world's biggest poster name LeBron James.

The Lakers had the lead with 54-48 at halftime and had the lead with 14 points for a while, but they are also the team in the NBA that lost the most double-digit leads and then lost.

So this time too.

LeBron James was noted for 37 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.

It was his sixth straight game with at least 30 points.

He also touched his personal best with eight three-pointers in one and the same match.

Set a new club record

Still, it was Ja Morant who shone the most with a total of 41 points and ten rebounds.

25 of his points also came in the second half, including a delicious three-pointer in the last second of the third period when he rushed forward across the field at high speed and fired the shot at the last moment.

Memphis eventually won the game 104-99.

For Ja Morant, it was the third time in his career that he scored 40 or more points in one and the same match.

New club record in the Grizzlies.

- What an incredible evening of Yes.

When he got the game right, it was lighter fluid for everyone else.

We have said from day one that he is as made for these moments, says Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins afterwards.

"It was my night"

Morant himself stated:

- Tonight was simply my night.

After the Lakers now lost six of the last seven games - despite monstrous efforts from LeBron James - teammate Malik Monk states:

- We lost the match in the third period and it is super frustrating because it has been like this all year.
