Two years after his disappearance, the body of a martial arts fighter was found

Police in Branson, Missouri, said they have identified the remains of David Koenig, an amateur mixed martial arts fighter who has been missing for nearly two years.

The Branson Police Department announced in a statement that the skeletal remains were found in the woods last week by a man searching for deer antlers.

Russia Today reported that the forensic doctor said that the cause of the death of the young fighter is unknown, but it was not the result of murder, and a doctor confirmed that Konig was twenty-five years old when he died.

Police investigators found some of his personal belongings while searching the area.

Koenig was last seen on February 8 last year and since then several federal agencies have been searching for him.

Koenig's father, Rick, runs a martial arts gym in Branson and says he has trained his son in the sport his whole life and has been working towards becoming a professional fighter.

He stated that his son lost his first fight after injuring his feet in the ring, but then won his next five fights.
