The New Jersey Devils went on the extended Christmas break with six straight losses and aimed to break the trend in the restart against the Buffalo Sabers.

Thanks to Swedish Jesper Bratt and American shooting star Jack Hughes, it also became a reality.

The duo each scored and two assists were in the 4-3 victory against the Sabers.

- I think we were all pretty tagged on coming back and then having to start with a win is huge for us, Hughes says after the match according to NHL.com.

Jesper Bratt's goal came halfway into the first period after he intercepted a return and sent the puck behind Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in the Buffalo goal from a narrow angle.

Buffalo's Rasmus Dahlin also accounted for two assists in the match.
