The three-star Al Ain International Show Jumping Championship was launched yesterday, under the patronage of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation, the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation, and with the support and patronage of the Abu Dhabi Council Riyadi, The Longines Company.

A press statement said: "In the competitions of the one-star category, which started with a one-round competition, and its track was designed with barriers of (120) cm high, with the participation of 51 knights, and the round completed without error 16 of them, their progress on the podium, the young jockey Ali Abdullah Sultan, riding the horse Doksan Bei, with whom he completed the tour in a time of (57.28) seconds, and with her he scored a double in the Al Ain International in the two-star category, which concluded last Saturday, and won the second place award for young jockey Ali Ahmed Al-Junaibi, and completed the tour with The mare Karmah de Lizame, in a competing time of 57.33 seconds, and the third place prize was won by the Syrian jockey Hisham Ghareeb, with the horse Elton, and finished the tour in a time of (57.74) seconds, and thus the time difference between the first three is fractions of a second.

Three young UAE jockeys won the qualifying competition for the Grand Prix, with the specifications of the two special stages, over hurdles of 130 cm height. The first to qualify with a time of the second stage (28) seconds, and the second place was crowned by the jockey Mofi Owaidah Al-Karbi with the horse “Joud Lak 11” and the time (28.69) seconds, and the third Ali Ahmed Al-Karbi with the horse “Cochet” and finished the second stage in a time of (29.68) seconds.

The championship is chaired by Muhammad Al-Nasiri, directed by Tom Buchanan, and the UAE international jury is headed by Khalil Ibrahim, and the competition tracks are designed by Italian international Uliano Vezzani, and a large number of showjumping jockeys from the UAE and countries of the world will participate in the tournament.

The press release stated: "The tournament will be held over four days, concluding tomorrow evening, and coincides with Al Ain International, a one-star international championship, to provide more opportunities for riders to participate and compete in international tournaments. Nojoom is doubly important as it includes one of the rounds of the 17th edition of the Arab League Qualifying Championships for the 2022 World Cup Show Jumping, which the UAE hosts four rounds this season, one of which is the Al Ain Championship, and the other three respectively in the Abu Dhabi International Championship, The International Sailing Championship, and the Sharjah Ruler’s Cup International Show Jumping Championship.

6 three-star competitions

The tournament includes six three-star competitions, with hurdles from (135) cm to (160) cm high, in the Grand Prix competition. (120) cm to (140) cm, in the Grand Prix competition, and prizes totaling 120 thousand dirhams were allocated for its competitions.
