Abu Dhabi launches fitness initiative for citizens and residents from December 30

The Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi announced the launch of the "Active Parks" initiative in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the municipalities of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra region, and the Community Administration for Al Dhafra Region Affairs - ADNOC. Maintaining physical fitness in the community, and encouraging all categories of citizens and residents to participate in regular exercise and adopt it as a way of life, by taking advantage of the various facilities provided by the emirate, such as public parks and modern green spaces. 

380 free training sessions in the field of fitness will be implemented in 12 public parks, which will be managed by an elite group of qualified sports coaches. 

The Executive Director of the Office of Strategic Affairs at the Department of Community Development, Mohammed Al Balushi, said: The Department is keen to set policies and standards in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with the aim of providing a sports ecosystem, in line with Abu Dhabi's vision of building an active society committed to practicing sports activities on the one hand, and regulating the sports sector on the one hand. On the other hand, in order to enable community members to follow an active lifestyle to advance this sector globally, pointing out that the organization of sports initiatives continues to contribute to development and peace and make society healthier and happier and maintain healthy lifestyles.

For his part, Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “The Active Parks Program is a comprehensive initiative open to all members of society, and aims to encourage them to increase physical activity and the regular exercise they do by providing organized and free training sessions. Managed by a team of qualified trainers.

It is noteworthy that the list of public parks and modern green spaces that host the Active Parks initiative includes the following: Madinat Zayed Park, Al Ruwais Park 2, and Al Mirfa Corniche Park in Al Dhafra;

Al Jahili Park and Al Tawiya Park in Al Ain;

Khalifa Park 3, Sheikha Fatima Park, Dolphin Park, Mohammed Bin Zayed City Park, Arabian Gulf Park, Electra Park and Al Shamkha Park 4 in Abu Dhabi and the surrounding areas.
