Liverpool club continues its negotiations with its Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, to sign a new contract linking him with the Reds for a long time.

Salah's current contract with the Reds extends until the summer of 2023, and he receives a weekly salary of 200,000 pounds (about 275,000 dollars), and Liverpool seeks to keep it for fear of joining another club, amid talk of Real Madrid's desire to include the Reds' top scorer.

And the British newspaper, “Mirror”, reported that Salah had asked Liverpool to include a new striker as part of the terms of his contract renewal, according to Sky Sports.

Previous reports indicated that Liverpool were seeking to include Erling Haaland, who is scheduled to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer, along with Jonathan David, the star of the French Lille team.

"We're in really good talks, I want it to happen, but when? I don't care too much," Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports about Salah's renewal negotiations.

Salah wants a record salary

Negotiations to renew Salah's contract began in earnest since last October, when Rami Abbas, the Egyptian star's agent, went to England to hold further talks on the deal to renew his client's contract.

And the newspaper “Mirror” reported at the time that Abbas wanted to renew Salah’s contract with Liverpool, but with a weekly salary of half a million pounds (about 685,000 dollars), meaning that he would receive about 33 million dollars annually, thus becoming the highest salary in the Reds ever.

Some reports stated that Salah may accept a lower salary, which may reach 400,000 pounds (about 550,000 dollars).
