Despite icy winds and soft snow, it was a record-breaking race for 30-year-old Evija Reine from Latvia. She ran the southernmost marathon, the Antarctic Ice Marathon, in 4 hours, six minutes and 11 seconds, erasing Fiona Oake's 2013 record.
Pole Grzegorz Bogunia won the race in 3:53:02 just a minute ahead of Frenchman Julien Cazorla.
For the sixteenth time, the race was arranged and 62 runners from 18 countries challenged the cold in Antarctica.
Despite the sunshine, it was minus 15 degrees.
