- The hundreds were not on my side but it is personal and I am very happy, Hansson says to SVT Sport.

It was a dramatic showdown with Olympic champion MacNeil, Canada, who was only four halves.

- She had to shorten the swims at the end to time the finish, says expert Lars Frölander about the finish which may have cost Hansson the gold.

MacNeil was the favorite before the race but had to fight to take the gold before the Swede.

- I'm not used to swimming 100 m butterfly the last day so it was a challenge, says MacNeil

In yesterday's semifinals, Hansson had the third best time with 55.81.

Margaret MacNeil, who yesterday won 50 meters backstroke after breaking the world record, had the best time with 55.45.

Clarie Curzan then set a junior world record with 55.64.

Curzan improved his junior record to 55.39 after finishing third.
