London will host the first edition of the upcoming confrontation between the Italian national team, which won the last edition of the European Cup, and its Argentine counterpart, who won the Copa America title on June 1, 2022, according to what the European Football Association (UEFA) announced.

It is likely that the famous "Wembley" stadium will be the most likely to host the match, which was called the final summit (Finalisima).

This confrontation comes as part of a renewed memorandum of understanding between UEFA and its counterpart, the Confederation of South American Football (CONMEBOL) until 2028, which will witness the establishment of two other editions, in addition to the match next year.

The two federations expressed their opposition to a proposal from the International Federation of the game "FIFA", which aims to hold the World Cup every two years instead of 4 years.

As part of the agreement between the two sides, a joint office will be opened in London to enhance cooperation between the two continental federations, starting in early 2022.

Wembley Stadium hosted the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy last July and ended with a 3-2 victory for the Azzurri on penalties, after they tied 1-1 in normal and overtime.

The stadium, which is considered the home of English football, remains a favorite place for UEFA due to its 90,000 capacity and special facilities, as it will also host the Champions League final in 2024.

Argentina had ended a 28-year wait to win a major championship, after winning the Copa America title at the expense of host Brazil with a clean goal last July.
