Sarah Sjöström lost another world record on Thursday.

Siobhan Haughey, Hong Kong, broke Sjöström's four-year-old record of 200 meters freestyle by twelve hundredths to 1.50.31.

- It means a lot to me and gives me a lot of confidence in the future, she says.

Haughey won double Olympic silver in Tokyo this summer in the 100 and 200 meters freestyle.

Now the 24-year-old took his first World Cup gold on the senior side of his career.

"She knew I could hit it"

The two are not unfamiliar with each other.

Siobhan Haughey and Sarah Sjöström compete for the same team in ISL.

And Haughey says that Sjöström meant a lot to her.

- Sarah is an incredible swimmer and leader.

I've learned so much from her.

She knew I could break the world record and she gave me the confidence to do so already a year ago.

Then I was very far away from it, she says.

And the fact that it was Sjöström's world record meant a lot to Haughey.

- She's a legend.

That I was able to beat her world record is very special, she says.

Sjöström also recently lost his world record in the 100 meter butterfly in the short course when the American Kelsi Dahlia with 54.59 polished the record with two hundredths.
