Nothing has yet been finalized but the idea is gaining ground.

According to the latest information from RMC, the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, which is to be held in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, could be canceled altogether due to the resumption of the Covid-19 epidemic and the appearance of the new Omicron variant.

Several national coaches have reportedly been informed of this possibility without any official decision having yet been taken.

If it were to be taken, this decision would be likely to delight many clubs, especially in the Premier League, where the discontent has increased in recent weeks.

Indeed, the internationals called in selection to play the CAN will have to comply with a strict quarantine on their return from Africa at the beginning of February, thus prolonging their unavailability in club.
