A sudden development threatens the absence of Mohamed Salah and big stars from the African Nations Cup

The European Club Association, in a letter addressed to the International Football Association (FIFA), threatened not to release its players in order to participate with their national teams in the African Nations Cup scheduled for next January and February in Cameroon, due to the protocols related to the Corona virus.

This threat would cause the absence of prominent stars from the African Championship, including the Liverpool duo, the Egyptian star striker Mohamed Salah and the Senegalese Sadio Mane, along with the Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, as well as the two stars of the Moroccan national team, Ashraf Hakimi, Yassin Bono and other players.

In the letter obtained by AFP today, the European Club Association said: "To our knowledge, the CAF has not yet announced a medical and operational protocol for the African Nations Cup, and in its absence, clubs will not be able to release their players for the tournament."
