The Swiss ski racer Lara Gut-Behrami won the first of her two home World Cups in St. Moritz.

The world champion won the Super-G on Saturday in difficult external conditions with 0.18 seconds ahead of the Italian Sofia Goggia, who had won the three previous speed races this season.

The rest of the field followed well behind, led by third-placed Mikaela Shiffrin from the USA (+1.18 seconds).

Kira Weidle, the only German starter in St. Moritz, finished 19th, 2.81 seconds behind. The curvier of the two speed disciplines is still not as good for the Starnberger as the downhill.

Friedrich wins before Lochner

Francesco Friedrich continued his winning streak in the Olympic winter.

The double Olympic champion from BSC Oberbärenburg won the four-man bobsleigh World Cup in Winterberg.

In the final run he and his team Thorsten Margis (SV Halle), Martin Grothkopp (BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg) and Alexander Schüller (SV Halle) caught Johannes Lochner, who was leading after the first round, with a five-hundredths of a second advantage.

The Berchtesgadener Lochner starting for Stuttgart was exactly one year ago the last pilot who could defeat Friedrich.

Third place went to Canadian Justin Kripps.

Two-seater in second place

The toboggan doubles Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken (Ilsenburg / Suhl) also demonstrated their excellent condition in the Olympic winter at the fourth World Cup.

In Altenberg, the world champions passed their second win of the season by only three thousandths and finished second behind the overall World Cup winners Thomas Steu / Lorenz Koller from Austria.

The Olympic champions Tobias Wendl / Tobias Arlt (Berchtesgaden / Königssee / + 0.219 seconds) came fourth and missed the podium for the third time this season.

The podium was completed by Martins Bots and Roberts Plume from Latvia (+0.213).

Ski jumper Althaus on the podium

Ski jumping world champion Katharina Althaus made the podium on the second day of the home game weekend in Klingenthal.

After attempts at 129.5 and 127 meters, the 25-year-old from Oberstdorf only had to admit defeat to Austrian Marita Kramer (137 and 134 meters) and Silje Opseth from Norway (130 and 130 meters) in the Vogtland Arena.

Bold from 1 to 15

One day after his sprint victory in Hochfilzen, biathlete Johannes Kühn surrendered a podium with three mistakes in the last standing stage.

The 30-year-old had to be content with a disappointing 15th place in the 12.5 kilometer hunting race in the victory of Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet (1 penalty loop), 55.3 seconds behind.

Emilien Jacquelin (1 / + 32.1 seconds) came second, Simon Desthieux (1 / + 38.2) completed a French triple victory.

Until the last shooting, Kühn had every chance of winning, but then his nerves failed.

Roman Rees (+1: 18.0 minutes) came in 23rd with two shooting errors in the last shooting.

Hofmeister and master builder second

The German snowboarders have made a strong start to the Alpine World Cup winter.

Ramona Hofmeister and Stefan Baumeister each secured second place in the parallel giant slalom in Bannoye on Saturday.

Carolin Langenhorst came third.

Melanie Hochreiter, who failed in the quarter-finals, also cracked the national standard for the Olympic Games in Beijing in February right away.

Overall World Cup winner Hofmeister had to admit defeat only local hero Sofia Nadirschina at the event in Russia.

Langenhorst prevailed wafer-thinly against the Austrian Julia Dujmovits in the women's small final.

Baumeister, who was the only German to qualify for the men's finals, lost in the race for the day's victory due to a driving error against the South Korean Sang-ho Lee.
