The top trio in the stumbling step: Manchester City, Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC did not shine on matchday 16 of the Premier League, but are still at the top together after three difficult victories with penalties.

The new team manager Ralf Rangnick was able to thank superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for celebrating a 1-0 (0-0) success with the record champion Manchester United at the relegation candidate Norwich City.

CR7 succeeded, also by a penalty (75th), which was caused on himself, the decision.

ManUnited climbed to fifth.

On Saturday afternoon, national player Ilkay Gündogan won 1-0 (0-0) against Wolverhampton Wanderers with the Citizens, in the afternoon Jürgen Klopp's Liverpoolers won 1-0 (0-0) against Aston Villa. For team manager Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea FC, after difficult weeks, everything already looked like the next disappointment, but then national players Antonio Rüdiger and Jorginho became the match winners: In the 3: 2 (1: 1) against Leeds United, the Italian European champions converted two Penalty for a foul (58./90.+4), both brought out Rüdiger. In the table, leader ManCity now has 38 points, Liverpool (37) and Chelsea (36) follow closely behind.

The Skyblues didn't impress either, against Wolverhampton they played half in the majority and ultimately needed a hand penalty for the win: Raheem Sterling (66th) scored decisive with his 100th Premier League goal.

The pressure from Gündogan and Co. only became mandatory after the yellow-red card against Raul Jimenez (45th + 2).

The Reds clashed with a club icon in Liverpool: Steven Gerrard came to Anfield Road as Aston Villa's team manager, and Klopp's team struggled against the defensive guests.

Mohamed Salah (67.) made a penalty for the deserved victory.

At Arsenal FC, however, the former Dortmund-based Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is apparently no role model as a captain in terms of discipline.

Gunners team manager Mikel Arteta deleted the Gabon striker from the squad for the game against Southampton FC (3-0), the reason was a "discipline violation". Apparently the star striker skipped a training session on Friday.
