The coach of the Egyptian national team reveals the secret of his great joy after the victory over Jordan

The coach of the Egyptian national team, Carlos Queiroz, expressed his happiness at defeating Jordan and qualifying for the semi-finals of the Arab Cup, which is currently being held in Qatar.

After the match, which ended with Egypt winning 3-1, he said: "The players were nervous at the beginning of the match. On the other hand, Jordan started very strong, but our return was wonderful. Egypt's players are young, and therefore they are credited with their strong personality."

He added, "We controlled 60% or 70% of the game. After the first 20 minutes, we completely controlled the game."

He said, "If Jordan started the match well, we only controlled the match after that, and we finished the second half and the extra time strongly, and we were trying to win the match and Jordan relied on the counter-attack, and we controlled the match and we wanted to win and the final result is an award we deserve."

He stressed that his great joy after the third goal came to his happiness with the players because they deserved to win, adding: "We have to congratulate these young players... Now we rest a little before preparing for the semi-final match."

He continued, "It is too early to talk about injuries. We have not finished the assessment yet. I know that Hamdi Fathi's injury is minor, but we do not have enough information now."

He said, "The most important thing to do is to rest after this strong match, which was difficult for both teams. The most important thing is to recover and see what happens. We have some problems due to injuries."

On the possibility of changing the formation in the upcoming matches, Queiroz said, "We made some mistakes, which is what all teams do, but if these players do not make mistakes and learn, their level will not develop."

"We were not very focused at the beginning, but then we managed to come back and close the spaces between the lines and take a risk to win," he added.

He concluded, "The match was difficult and sometimes we see great energy and effort from the players and they create opportunities and do not end as they should, and in the end we scored the goal and that's why I celebrated strongly, and there is a similarity in the style of play between Egypt and Jordan, the Jordanians should be proud of this team."

Egypt will play Tunisia next Wednesday in the Arab Cup semi-finals.
