Adnan Hamad: Jordan deserved a better result against Egypt

Jordan coach Adnan Hamad believes that his team deserved a better result after narrowly losing 3-1 to Egypt after extra time in the Arab Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Jordan advanced with a goal in the first half by Yazan Al-Nuaimat, and missed more than one opportunity to consolidate the progress, and a shot rebounded from the crossbar and then the post, before Egypt equalized immediately before the break, then added two goals in extra time by the substitutes Ahmed Refaat and Marwan Daoud.

Hamad, who was missing several players due to normal injuries and infections with the Corona virus, said, “We played a great match and I think we deserved a better result and things could have been resolved from many chances, but this is football and there is one winner. I am very proud of the players and they played a heroic match despite injuries and infections with the Corona virus.” ".

He added, "I think today the team was at its best and created a lot of opportunities, but the physical fitness did not help us in the extra games, and even the substitutions were not available unlike the Egypt team (due to the lack of players). The team earned everyone's respect and we got out of the exceptional tournament at a young age."

Jordan's coach feels that his players are tired of participating in this tournament in Qatar after a long domestic season.

Hamad said, "The only Jordanian team in the tournament, which came after the end of a difficult and long season, and I think this caused many injuries.

"We played a great and balanced match... Jordan could have decided things in the first half, but we were unlucky."
