Martina Aronsson will take over from Ulrika Sandmark, who after eight years in the post left the role of national team captain after the Olympics in Tokyo this summer.

- The goal is to continue the fantastic job that has already been done.

With two and a half years left, there is plenty of time left to create the right conditions for the Olympics in Paris, says Martina Aronsson.

Former national team captain for the junior national team

To the larger sports audience, she is a mystery, but in the swimming world a well-known name.

During the early 2000s, Martina Aronsson was the national captain of the swimming junior and youth national teams.

Between 2001 and 2008, she was one of the national team coaches at the European Championships, the World Cup and the Olympics.

In addition, she has a background as operations manager for Stockholmsklubben Spårvägen SF.

What do you bring into the national team?

- My leadership experience and absolutely the years of international junior and elite swimming.

And I will work closely with the local swimming clubs in the country to create the best conditions for swimmers and leaders in Sweden.

Swimming is currently in an intense championship period, the European Short Course Championships were recently decided and next week the Short Course World Championships will begin in Abu Dhabi - which will be broadcast on SVT starting on 16 December.
