The Denver Broncos from the NFL professional football league mourn Demaryius Thomas.

The former wide receiver, who won the Super Bowl 50 with the team from the so-called "Mile High City" in 2016, died completely unexpectedly at the age of only 33.

"We are devastated after the sudden, tragic death of Demaryius Thomas, our heart is broken," said the Broncos in a statement, "DT was loved by our entire organization, its teammates, coaches and our fans."

According to police in Roswell, Georgia, Thomas was found lifeless at home Thursday night (local time).

There is still no information on the cause of death.

Thomas ended his career in June, playing for the Broncos for nine years.

The passport catcher was also under contract in the National Football League with the Houston Texans, New England Patriots and New York Jets.

In four consecutive seasons Thomas got at least 90 catches and 1,300 yards of space.

Only three NFL pros had done that before, including Hall of Famers Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice.
