The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix continues on the "Formula One calendar" until 2030
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which hosts the final race on Sunday, will remain on the Formula One calendar until 2030, after extending the contract with the local promoter, tournament organizers announced today.
A statement on the official website of the World Championship said, “Before the start of the season finale in the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix, which will determine the identity of the champion, Formula One announces that it has renewed its contract with the Abu Dhabi Mechanical Sports Management Company (ADMM) in a step that will keep The race for the calendar until 2030."
The Abu Dhabi race was included in the competition calendar for the first time in 2009, and this season witnessed changes at the Yas Marina Circuit, which will crown Sunday the Dutch champion Max Verstappen for the first time or the British Lewis Hamilton for a record eighth, knowing that they enter the race with equal points.
For the thirtieth time since the start of the tournament in 1950, the identity of the champion will be determined in the final round.
But only the second time, after 1974, that the two title contenders tied for points: 369.5 after 21 races.
At the time, the Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi won the title against Swiss Clay Rigazzoni, by three points.
