Barcelona President calls for unity after the exit from the European Champions

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has called on his team to unite in one heart following their Champions League exit.

Barcelona moved to participate in the European League (formerly European Union Cup) for the first time since the 2003/2004 season by defeating Bayern Munich, with three goals without a response, at the end of the fifth group activities of the Champions League.

Barcelona is also in seventh place in the La Liga standings, 16 points behind the lead.

"We are sad about the result, but we have to move forward, it's time to work hard and try to get out of this situation," Laporta told "TV3" television yesterday evening.

"We were not able to go to the dressing room to raise the morale of the players, we will talk to the technical staff on the plane," he added.

"We did our best and now we have to try to change this situation," Laporta noted.

Laporta concluded by saying, "I appeal to the Barcelona fans, today more than ever we must all line up in the same direction and try to overcome this situation together."
