  According to the rules, a total of 12 teams participated in the men’s ice hockey competition at the Beijing Winter Olympics. The Chinese team, ranked 32nd in the world, was placed in Group A, with the Canadian team ranked No. 1 in the world, the United States ranked No. 4 in the world and No. 5 in the world. The German team is in the same group.
