The Mauritania national team won an exciting victory from its Syrian counterpart, 2-1, yesterday, in the last round of the second group matches of the Arab Football Cup in Qatar.

Mauritania advanced with a goal in the 50th minute through Mohamed Soueid, but Mahmoud Al-Bahr equalized for Syria after only two minutes.

In overtime for the match, Hemi Tangi snatched the deadly winning goal for Mauritania.

The Mauritanian team achieved its first victory in the tournament, after losing the first two matches, while the Syrian team suffered its second defeat against a single victory.

Mauritania scored its first three points, to the bottom of the group, with a goal difference from Syria.
