With a success snatched at the end of the match at Atlético (1-0) on Matchday 5, AC Milan can still dream of qualifying for the next round. But Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his family must absolutely dominate the Liverpool of Mané and Salah, already qualified (1st, 15 pts), and hope that FC Porto (2nd, 5 pts) will not beat Atlético (4th, 4 pts) during of this last day. In the event of a tie on points between Milan and Atlético, if both teams win, second place will be awarded to the general goal difference (currently favorable to the Italians), since they are tied in their direct confrontations (2 -2 in total).

Winning the eighth, or even the Europa League by finishing third, would look like a pretty “

remountada

” for the Milanese, who fell in a very

tough

group for their return to C1 after seven years of absence.

The challenge will be complicated as Liverpool is a scarecrow with five wins in five matches and fifteen goals scored.

Ibrahimovic time again

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 40, carries the hopes of AC Milan, returned to the fore, leader of Serie A since this weekend. The Swedish giant remained on the bench on Saturday against Salernitana (2-0), to better prepare for this summit which will bring together on the lawn of San Siro two clubs with no less than 13 Champions Leagues (7 for Milan, 6 for Liverpool). On the occasion of his 150th European club match, the Swede hopes to finally open his counter in C1 this season, in this competition where he has not scored since April 2016 with Paris SG against Manchester City (2-2, in quarter-final first leg). A goal would make him the oldest player to score in the most prestigious club competition. In the first leg, Milan, deprived of injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic, jostled Jürgen Klopp's team before s'tilt 3-2.

In an interview with the Rai channel, Zlatan Ibrahimovic reiterated his desire to extend his contract, which runs until next June.

I put the pressure on Milan, I hope to continue there for life.

I want to win another Scudetto.

I want to play as much as possible so as not to regret having been able to continue.

I don't know what my future will be like after football, that's why I'm a little afraid to quit,

”he said.

Returning to San Siro since January 2020, the former Paris Saint-Germain player has scored 6 goals in 12 matches in all competitions this season.
