The incident occurred at the beginning of the second half when Tranborg fell over Mia Rej's right knee after an end.
The knee bent at an unnatural angle, Rej collapsed and immediately screamed out his pain.
The Dane left the match on a stretcher and several of the teammates - and spectators - had tears in their eyes.
- It was absolutely awful.
We think so much of her, says teammate Louise Burgaard to Danish TV2.
Federation captain Jesper Jensen:
- It hurts to see, and it hurts to see her teammates, he says.
Despite the nasty injury, Denmark easily won by 34-16.
- It (the injury) did not look good.
There were no beautiful pictures, but it was very strong that the other players got up, says Jensen.
