(Beijing Winter Olympics) Visiting the National Stadium: "Double Olympic Stadium" achieves winter and summer "amphibious"

China News Service, Beijing, December 2 (Reporter Chen Hang) In the southern part of the central area of Beijing Olympic Park, there is the National Stadium "Ice Sail". 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics ice hockey and Paralympic ice hockey games.

On the 2nd, the reporter walked into this "Double Olympic Stadium" and felt the strong Winter Olympics elements in the remodeling design and the Olympic legacy that emphasized the use of after the game.

Sun Guojun, a cadre of the Urban Stadium Construction Division of the Beijing Major Project Office, said that the renovation project of the National Stadium was completed in December 2020.

In addition to revamping its main hall, adding ice-making functions and dehumidification systems, a new ice hockey hall is built on its north side as a training hall, and facilities such as changing rooms are added.

In the exterior design of the new training hall, the design of the ice cube glass curtain wall that highlights the elements of the Winter Olympics is used. It uses a smooth surface and an embossed glass with an ice pattern on the other side with a concave-convex texture. A total of 863 pieces are used. With the cooperation of lighting, It presents the effect of an "ice castle" built by blocks of crystal clear ice barriers.

Sun Guojun said that the total area of the venue after the renovation is about 98,000 square meters. It will be equipped with two ice hockey ice surfaces that meet the standards of Olympic competitions. One is used for official competitions during the Beijing Winter Olympics and the other is used for pre-match training warm-ups.

Also serving athletes for training warm-ups and competitions, there are also athletes locker rooms with a fabricated design.

Ice hockey has its particularities. Heavy sports equipment, extra-long equipment, and sportswear need to be dried, and ice skates need to be polished and refurbished frequently, all of which place high demands on athletes’ locker rooms.

Lei Ming, executive deputy director of the stadium operation team of the National Stadium, said that the locker room of the National Stadium includes 14 dressing units. Each dressing unit includes an athlete sharpening room, a storage room, a toilet, a shower room, a massage room, a coach room, and a dressing room. between.

The main structure and components of the athlete's locker room in the National Stadium adopt standardized design and factory production, which can be assembled on site like building blocks.

After the game, each locker room unit can be disassembled into multiple independent cabinets, or spliced into new rooms as needed to achieve recyclability.

During the Beijing Paralympic Winter Games, the National Gymnasium will also cover the athletes’ locker room to the competition venue with artificial ice boards and reduce the slope of the ramp. Athletes can slide into the competition venue from the locker room, which solves the problem of athletes’ inconvenience due to the venue. The inconvenience of changing the ice sled after entering the arena.

In October of this year, "Ice Sail" officially became the nickname of the National Gymnasium, which complements the National Aquatics Center "Ice Cube" and the National Speed Skating Stadium "Ice Ribbon" which are also in the Olympic Park.

At present, the National Gymnasium has the conditions to host the competition and has been tested by many "Meet in Beijing" test activities.

Wang Yue, the stadium and infrastructure manager of the National Stadium Operations Team, mentioned that the reconstructed ice surface of the National Stadium can not only meet the needs of competition time, but also can be converted into figure skating, short track speed skating and other projects, greatly improving the utilization of the ice rink. Rate.

At the same time, the stadium has also realized the "amphibious" ability of winter and summer sports events, and has the ability to switch between the ice rink and the summer event site.

The "Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Report (2020)" released by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee in June this year shows that the National Stadium will improve sports, sports, and sports on a "physical-oriented" basis. Culture and tourism business, and actively carry out large-scale cultural and sports activities, technological entertainment immersive experience, comprehensive training for young people, etc.
