Lionel Messi falls ill after winning the seventh Ballon d'Or

Paris Saint-Germain revealed today that its star, Argentine Lionel Messi, suffers from stomach pains that will prevent him from participating in the Nice match in the French League tomorrow.

The club said that Messi suffers from gastritis, without adding more details, after celebrating yesterday his seventh Ballon d'Or award in history.

Messi set a record, as he moved away from his traditional rival, Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, by two awards, which makes it almost impossible for any other player to reach this number of Golden Balls.

Messi did not do much this season with Saint-Germain, as he scored so far only one goal in the French League, while making many goals for his teammates.

Saint-Germain also misses its Brazilian star Neymar, who suffers from a sprained ankle, and is expected to be absent until next January.

The club said, according to the statement published on its website, that Argentine Paredes also suffers from stomach pain, while Wijnaldum will resume training next Thursday, and Ander Herrar at the end of the week.
