“I am delighted to join Manchester United and I am focused on making this season a success for the club.

The team is full of talent and presents an excellent balance between youth and experience ”, reacted Ralf Rangnick on the club website.

“All of my efforts over the next six months will be devoted to helping these players realize their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.

"

Rangnick was since this summer the sporting director of Lokomotiv Moscow after having worked for a long time in Germany, in particular as manager at RB Leipzig.

Carrick, an express temp

Michael Carrick, former club and assistant to Solskjaer, had provided a very short interim against Villarreal in the Champions League, for a 2-0 victory which had allowed the Mancuniens to validate their qualification for the knockout stages.

He also led the team in the draw at Chelsea (1-1) on Sunday in the Premier League.

Carrick will remain in charge of the team until Ralf Rangnick's work visa is finalized.
