Just before AIK's penultimate match in this year's Allsvenskan, the club announced that team captain Henok Goitom will put his shoes on the shelf after the season.

- He has represented the club in an exemplary way and blinded us with fantastic efforts and goals.

A golden hero who symbolizes much of what AIK stands for, says sports director Henrik Jurelius to AIK's website.

37-year-old Goitom first came to AIK before the autumn of 2012 and has since played 292 competitive matches and scored 99 goals for the club.

After his playing career, Goitom will continue in AIK as assistant coach for the P19 team in 2022.

Henok Goitom's player career can end with Swedish Championship gold if the results go AIK's way.
