The troubled Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC reacted to the sporting stagnation and parted ways with coach Pal Dardai.

The Berliners announced the end of Hungary two days after the sobering draw against relegation rivals FC Augsburg (1: 1).

Tayfun Korkut will be the new head coach.

The 47-year-old gets a contract until the end of the current season.

In addition to Dardai, the co-trainers Zecke Neuendorf and Admir Hamzagic were also relieved of their duties.

“We would like to express our thanks to Pal Dardai for his work.

He took over the team in a difficult situation last season and kept it in class under challenging circumstances, ”said Sport Director Fredi Bobic.

Korkut's first club in three years

Dardai started his second term as Hertha head coach in January and saved the club from relegation.

The club veteran had previously been on the sidelines between 2015 and 2019.

For Korkut it is the first stop since he was fired from VfB Stuttgart three years ago.

“With Tayfun Korkut we would like to give the team new impulses and new input.

Tayfun has already proven in the past that he can not only stabilize a team, but also develop it with his meticulous and passionate work and his idea of football, ”said Bobic.

After the 13th matchday, Hertha BSC is only 14th in the table with 14 points.

The club is far removed from its own ambitions.
