Al-Ahly of Egypt is in crisis..withdrawing from the World Cup clubs or banning its players from the national team

The Egyptian Al-Ahly club received a great shock after the International Football Association approved the timing of the Club World Cup from the third to the 12th of next February, dates that conflict with the establishment of the African Nations Championship hosted by Cameroon during the period from the ninth of January to the sixth of February from Next year.

The Confederation of African Football had submitted a request from the International Federation to hold the World Cup for clubs after the end of the African Nations Championship, in support of Al-Ahly’s request in this regard, but the attempts were not successful.

Sources inside Al-Ahly said that the club has become in a very difficult position regarding FIFA's decision regarding the World Cup, and that Al-Ahly has two options: to withdraw from the world championship, or not to participate with its players with the national team in the African championship.

The source confirmed to "Al-Emarat Al-Youm" that the arrival of the Egyptian team to the semi-finals of the African Nations Championship will make it difficult for international players to participate in the Club World Cup, pointing out that Al-Ahly will not suffer from the problem of conflicting dates in the World Cup with the African Nations Championship at the level of its citizens players only. But it will lengthen its professional players who are with their country's teams.

Al-Ahly includes in its ranks more than one international player, such as Tunisian Ali Maaloul, Moroccan Badr Bennoun, South African Percy Tau, and Malian Alou Diang.
