The freezing cold in Ruka forced the International Ski Federation (Fis) to postpone the ladies' hunt start from 10.20 to 13.45.

The men's 15 kilometer hunt start started as planned at 12.30 - but it was without Norwegian skiers.

All have resigned due to the weather conditions.

- We had discussions earlier where the distance riders said no.

The sprint team wanted to warm up and see, but we came to the conclusion that we can not take the chance.

It could have gone well but there are many competitions in the future, says Arild Monsen.

- We do not criticize anyone, it is up to everyone.

It's sad to give it away, but reason and health come first.

Emil Iversen, Hans Christer Holund, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Erik Valnes, Simen Hegstad Krüger and Pål Golberg all dropped out shortly before the competition started.

The Finn Iivo Niskanen, who should have started only today, also gave up the start.

Among the Swedes, everyone started except Fredrik Jonsson.

The decision does not cover the Norwegian women's national team skiers.
