SV Darmstadt 98 has temporarily recaptured the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Hessians deservedly won 2-1 (0-0) at FC Erzgebirge Aue on Saturday and pushed past FC St. Pauli, which will only compete in Nuremberg on Sunday.

For Darmstadt it was the seventh game in a row without a defeat, while Aue's streak ended after four unbeaten games.

In the corona-related ghost game, Darmstadt cheered for the first time after eleven minutes when Philip Tietz was celebrated as a goal scorer after a duel with Sören Gonther.

However, the video referee intervened and rightly found that Tietz was offside on Mathias Honsak's cross.

As a result, Darmstadt was superior, but initially did not have any compelling chances.

In the second half, however, the superiority paid off.

Pfeiffer completed after a great one-two with Tietz, the substitute Seydel hit with a heavy shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Schalke storms out of the crisis

Even without record goalscorer Simon Terodde, Schalke 04 have found their way out of the sporting crisis. The first division relegated team won after three games without a win 5-2 (0-0) against SV Sandhausen and improved to fourth place with 26 points. Sandhausen remains penultimate with twelve points after the third defeat in a row. Marius Bülter (64th / 76th minute), Thomas Ouwejan (58th) and Rodrigo Zalazar (82nd) were the Schalke goal scorers. In addition, there was an own goal by Sandhausen's Aleksandr Schirow (72nd). Before kick-off, the 33-year-old was presented with a photo collage with his record number of 154 goals from sports director Peter Knäbel.

Hanover is slipping

The sporting crisis in Hannover 96 is getting worse.

The Lower Saxony lost 4-0 (3-0) at Karlsruher SC and slipped to relegation rank 16.

Kyoung-Rok Choi (17th minute), Daniel Gordon (27th), Marvin Wanitzek (29th) and Philipp Hofmann (83rd) scored the goals for KSC in front of 10,000 spectators, who only scored two of the previous four league games from twelve possible points.

Hanover has now been without a win for eight league games.

After only half an hour, the game in the wildlife park was as good as decided.

First Choi hit the middle of the goal after a fine combination from Karlsruhe, then veteran Gordon after a nice cross from Philip Heise with his head.

When Wanitzek increased to 3-0 shortly afterwards with a low shot into the left corner, the guests threatened to fall apart completely.

They struggled again, however.

Lukas Hinterseer's connecting goal was rightly revoked for handball (35th), four minutes later he hit the post.

In the second half, the Hanoverians tried hard, but harmless.

In the 83rd minute, Hofmann made everything clear from an acute angle.
