Veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos believes that he can continue to play for the next 4 or 5 years if he remains strong on the mental level, at a time when he expected that his physical components would qualify him to do so.

Ramos moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last July, but he did not participate in any matches with the team due to a knee injury.

It is possible that Ramos will make his first appearance with Saint-Germain in the confrontation that brings him together with his host, Saint-Etienne, on Sunday.

Ramos, 35, said - in a press interview today, Saturday - that "the most important thing is that my mental state qualifies me to do this, and I hope that I do not suffer from any other physical problems."

But the "Spanish Hammer" admitted that the road to recovery from the injury was difficult and long.

"It was difficult moments, moments of loneliness, I spent hours in the gym with a physiotherapist and a fitness trainer," he explained.

He continued, "You get negative thoughts that make you doubt yourself sometimes," and concluded, "I believed in myself and in hard work. I focus on restoring the confidence that the club gave me, and I hope to reach my best level."
