Monsén started as number 23 in the downhill premiere in Lake Louise, Canada and drove in as eleven 1.30 behind the leader Mattias Mayer.

And after a bit of waiting for the remaining skiers, he was able to state that the best result of his career had been arranged.

But when he crossed the finish line, he was surprised.

- I really did not think that the result would be so good when I reached the finish line.

So when I saw the eleven, I was very relieved and happy.

It is a sign that the speed is there, says Monsén and continues:

- It was really a horror of relief.

Three times before, he has come in 15th place and today's result was at the same time the best season opener of his career for the 27-year-old.

"Can be a really fun season"

Monsén dropped a part on the lower part after a miss.

- It really was not a clean ride.

And now the Stockholmer is looking ahead.

- It really feels like it can be a really fun season with high-level skiing.

Today's second Swede, Olle Sundin, started as number 51 and finished 44th.
