Like the Summer Olympics, the Winter Olympics are generally held every four years.

But in history, there has been only two years between the two Winter Olympics.

Before the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, the Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics were usually held in the same year. In order to stagger the two, the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics were held.

Since then, the Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics will generally be held two years apart.
